I had a mixed experience at Hock Lee Hotel & Residences. On the upside, my room was spacious and comfortable, boasting a nice river view. However, I was disappointed by the overall state of the hotel, especially the musty smell in the corridors and some cleanliness issues in my bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the hotel could really use some renovations and better maintenance to improve its appeal.

Rooms
6.0
My room was clean and spacious, with a king-sized bed; however, I noticed some patches of mold and the bathroom had yellow stains that wouldn't flush away.
Service
6.0
The staff were attentive and did their best to help me, though I had to pay for an extra hour at checkout, which seemed unfair for an unused room.
Location
5.0
The hotel is a bit far from the main attractions of Kuching, but it was easy to get around using e-hailing services.
Dining
5.0
I didn't opt for breakfast but found the room service slow, and the food options were pretty basic.
Facilities
5.0
The pool area was nice, but lacked cleanliness and safety measures, and the corridors had a musty smell.

6.8/10

I recently stayed at Hock Lee Hotel & Residences, and while there were some positive aspects, several significant issues detracted from my experience. The room was spacious with a good view of the Sarawak River, but the cleanliness and overall condition of the hotel left much to be desired. The location is a bit far from the city center, making it less convenient for exploring Kuching.

Rooms
6.0
The premium king room I had was spacious and offered a nice view, but it was also marked by missed cleanliness, especially the windows. The decor felt a bit dated, and I noticed some issues with the bathroom fixtures. The absence of a hairdryer was a surprise as well.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and helpful during my stay, assisting with check-in and other requests. However, I did notice some inconsistencies in service quality, especially in dining and breakfast management.
Location
5.0
Positioned a bit away from the city center, getting around involved relying on e-hailing services. While convenient parking was available, being adjacent to a nearly empty shopping mall didn't contribute positively to the ambiance.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was quite simple, and I had to wait a while for my order during one of my mornings. The options were adequate but could benefit from more variety, especially in savory dishes.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel offered basic amenities like a swimming pool and room service, both the pool and other common areas showed signs of neglect. The facilities, though adequate, could use a refresh to enhance the overall guest experience.

5.6/10

I had a mixed experience at Hock Lee Hotel & Residences. While the room was spacious and had a nice river view, I noticed a lack of cleanliness, particularly with the windows and some bathroom fixtures. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself felt a bit dated and in need of renovation.

Rooms
6.0
The premier king room was clean and spacious, but some issues were present. The view of the Sarawak River was great, yet the dirty windows affected it. I also found the shower tap faulty and the towels stained. Overall, the room had a comfortable bed for a good night's sleep.
Service
7.0
The staff were polite and responsive to my needs, making the check-in process smooth. However, I encountered some issues like insufficient room cleaning and a delayed response to my maintenance requests.
Location
5.0
The hotel is located a bit far from major attractions, which made accessing the city a bit inconvenient. Though I appreciated the complimentary parking, the area itself is overshadowed by nearby industrial shops.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast options were limited and somewhat repetitive. I ended up opting for room service instead, which was adequate but not impressive. The cost for breakfast was reasonable, though I didn't try it until later in my stay.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities included basic amenities, with room service and airport shuttles available, but the overall ambiance felt a bit neglected. The unique pool shape was visually nice, yet the pool deck had safety concerns with slippery floors.

5.0/10

I had a mixed experience at Hock Lee Hotel & Residences. While I enjoyed the spaciousness and comfort of my room, there were several issues that detracted from my overall stay. The location is somewhat isolated, making it less ideal for exploring Kuching, and the amenities were quite basic, lacking in some essentials. Overall, I think it suits short business trips more than leisure vacations. 😕

Rooms
8.0
The premium king room I checked into was clean and spacious, featuring a king-sized bed which provided a good night's rest. However, the view was hampered by dirty windows, and some amenities, like a hairdryer, were missing. The air conditioning was effective, but the TV was old with limited channels.
Service
6.0
The staff were generally polite and responsive, addressing issues like the broken lightbulb promptly. However, feedback on service and cleanliness was hit or miss, with some rooms lacking thorough cleaning.
Location
5.0
The hotel is a bit far from the city center, which made accessing local attractions less convenient. It's attached to a nearly empty shopping mall, making the location feel isolated. I would recommend e-hailing for getting around.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were pretty limited and repetitive, lacking variety. I had to rely on room service or venture out, which added inconvenience to my stay. Breakfast wasn't included, which I found disappointing.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were quite basic, with room service and a few other standard offerings. The swimming pool area was nice, but the safety of the steps on the pool deck was a concern. Overall, nothing stood out as really good.

My stay at Hock Lee Hotel & Residences had its ups and downs. I appreciated the friendly staff and the spacious room with a lovely river view, but I was disappointed with the upkeep of the facilities, including the cleanliness and the old-fashioned decor. The location felt a bit removed from the city center, and the dining options were limited and not very appealing.

Rooms
6.0
I enjoyed the spacious room with a king-sized bed and a nice river view, but some aspects were in need of attention, like dirty windows and an outdated decor.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and professional, responding well to issues like stained towels and room service, but the overall service could improve especially during busy check-in times.
Location
5.0
Located a bit far from the city center and attached to a nearly empty shopping mall, it wasn't the most convenient choice for exploring Kuching.
Dining
5.0
I found the breakfast options to be quite simple and unappealing; the available food didn't excite me, and I opted to eat outside during my stay.
Facilities
5.0
Although the swimming pool area had a beautiful view, the overall condition of the hotel’s facilities was disappointing, with issues like broken lifts and limited housekeeping.
